Located 25 miles north of Philadelphia, just off Rte. 309, the Souderton Area School District can be characterized as a growing semi‐rural community of 39,000 residents. The school district encompasses 49 square miles and the entire school district has approximately 6,700 students. In September 2009, the new 9‐12 Souderton Area High School opened its doors to students. Situated on 104 acres in Franconia Township, the new building is 445,000 square feet. The high school consists of 22 state‐of‐the‐art science labs, an integrated arts wing, including an auditorium surrounded by art, technology education, and music rooms, as well as a television studio and video editing lab. The academic wing of the building houses two 3‐story wings of 78 regular classrooms, which surround a spacious library. The academic wing also has 14 multi‐purpose computer labs.
