About SAHS > Curriculum
Souderton Area High School offers an expansive and rigorous core curriculum, culminated by 14 Advanced Placement courses. A comprehensive range of elective offerings include world languages (including two Advanced Placement courses), and Family and Consumer Sciences, which provides not only a dual credit (college and high school) class in Child Development, but also a student-run preschool for the community.
In addition to five dual college and high school credit courses offered at Souderton Area High School, many Souderton students also take advantage of on-line Virtual High School classes, among which the more popular are courses such as Mandarin Chinese, and a multitude of dual credit course offerings at the local community college.
Leveraging its block schedule, the entering freshman class in 2009 (graduating Class of 2012-2013) will need to earn an additional two credits beyond the previous 24 credits (total of 26 credits). As a rigorous and relevant Career Pathways program is developed for full implementation during the 2011-2012 school year, graduation requirements, with a differentiated diploma, will increase to 28 credits, or 29 for a Scholar’s Diploma, for the Class of 2015. |
