Students > Academics > Co-taught Core Courses

As a way of providing support to students who have struggled in their core classes, several classes may be co-taught by a regular education and special education teacher. To be in most of these co-taught classes, students will need to meet District-developed criteria, which will include either being non-proficient in the subject area (for social studies, Reading and Writing proficiency would apply) or being at-risk for being non-proficient. Both students with IEPs and regular education students may qualify for co-taught courses.

The goal of providing additional resources for struggling students is to provide another intervention to help our students achieve proficiency. If a student is scheduled for a co-taught course, parents/guardians will be notified. There will be higher expectations for two-way parent-teacher communication in these courses.
