Students > Academics > Special Education Department-Support Room (Resource Room Schedule)
Support room is an opportunity for students in the Special Education program at the high school, to have a quiet place to study, take tests, and work on homework with assistance from a learning support teacher.
Students who attend the support room are expected to use this time constructively. If the student has not specific task to work on, they are expected to use this time to read, organize their notebooks, review notes, and study for tests. While not all students have time in their schedules to regularly attend support room, all students have the opportunity to take tests in the support room if this is a documented IEP accommodation.
Students are expected to advocate for themselves by expressing their need for support room assistance, both to their IEP teacher and mainstream teachers. In a mainstream situation students should tell their teacher they would like to take a test in the support room, the teacher will sign the student's agenda, and the student may leave the class for the support room.
Students are encouraged to put this schedule in their agenda, so they know the location of all the support rooms throughout the year.
