SAHS Achievement > Recent Achievements: Arrowhead newspaper once again earned numerous state and national awards for the 2007-2008 academic year
Columbia Scholastic Press Association: Gold Medal with additional All-Columbian Honors in four out of four possible categories which include Coverage, Writing and Editing, Graphic Presentation, and Business Operations. These honors are awarded, as part of judging, for those publications that receive very high point totals in one or more of these four categories. In recent years, All-Columbian Honors have only been awarded when a publication has achieved the 95th percentile or higher in each of these categories.
National Scholastic Press Association: First Class Rating - Marks of Distinction in Coverage and Content, Writing and Editing, and Leadership
Quill and Scroll International Honor Society: International First Place Award - Superior Achievement for Policy Guidelines, Coverage, Display and Design, and Business Practices
Pennsylvania School Press Association: Gold Rating
The judges' comments included the following:
"What an amazing paper! Students who work on this must surely take great pride in their work. There is so much to commend: the strong action photography, the incisive views on so many topics, the community coverage, the impressive ad sales. The list could go on…" (CSPA)
