Advanced Placement Course Opportunities

Students attending Souderton Area High School have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These courses, created by the College Board, not only provide a rigorous and stimulating educational experience for the student, but can also be used to qualify for credit at most of the nation's colleges and universities. Souderton is proud to offer 19 of the 37 College Board AP courses in its Program of Studies.

Why Take These Courses?
AP courses provide a college-level experience for the high school student. For young men and women planning on attending college, or even just thinking about it, AP courses are an in-depth, stimulating study of a particular subject/discipline. Students will also discover that college admissions offices look favorably on AP coursework in a submitted transcript. The curricula of the Advanced Placement catalog and the culminating standardized exam are regulated by the College Board. Colleges have found that AP classes provide them with a valuable tool to differentiate between students in their pool of applicants. The value of the AP curriculum has spurred progressive school districts to expand their offerings in this category, and therefore Souderton has steadily added to its AP catalog over the last few years.
