Unexcused or Unlawful Absence / Truancy

For students who are of compulsory school age, three (3) days of unlawful absences will necessitate a warning notice to be sent in accordance with Section 1333 of the School Code. All subsequent unlawful absences will result in the filing of a complaint for court action. Truancy designates a student’s absence from school without advance consent from a parent or guardian. Students will be assigned one (1) Saturday detention for each day truant. An unexcused/unlawful absence from school cannot be made up and the student will receive no credit for work missed. 10 Successive unexcused/unlawful absences will result in the student being removed from the Souderton Area High School active roster.
