Annual Education Report 2006-2007 > Message from the Superintendent
It is an exciting time for the Souderton Area School District. The
success of our students is not only measured by their outstanding
achievement, but is demonstrated by the level of their commitment
to our community through fundraising, volunteering, and promoting
respect for our environment. We are extremely proud of the teaching
and learning in our schools.
During the 2006-2007 school year, significant progress was made
on the construction of the new Souderton Area High School in
Franconia, which will be completed in 2009.
The ethnic distribution in the Souderton Area School District as of
June 2007 was: Asian 4.35%, Black 3.58%, Hispanic 3.15%, Native
American .23%, and white 88.69%. In 2006-2007, the Souderton
Area School District also received $40,343 in federal funding
through the Title III program for Limited English Proficient students.
The district was once again part of a consortium with the
Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and 13 other school districts
in Montgomery County which combined their Title III grants for the
school year: the total amount received was approximately
$230,000.00. These funds were used for professional development
activities throughout the year (consortium districts were able to
send staff members free of charge, including the cost of
substitutes); the development of an ESL Teacher Resource Center;
and translation services.
This Annual Report is intended to provide our community with
information about our district, specifically the budget revenues
and expenditures associated with a quality education for all of the
Souderton Area School District’s school children. Thank you to the
members of our community for sharing this responsibility and
investing in our future.
Dr. Charles D. Amuso
Superintendent
