Students > Guidance > Guidance Services > Groups
Throughout the course of the school year, certain issues arise that impact students and their abilities to function well within the school setting. As the Guidance Department becomes aware of these concerns, groups are often formed to help students process the issues with one another in an attempt to provide peer support. Issues that can give rise to groups can be, but are not limited to, grief due to a death in the family or of a friend, anger management, peer relations, general school adjustment, and after-care for students who have returned to school from outside treatment agencies. The Guidance Department works closely with the Student Support Team and faculty and administration to stay aware of the rising need for a support group. Parents and student are always welcome to inquire about such services. If at any given time, a group is not running, but an individual student needs help from a support group, his or her guidance counselor can make referrals to groups meeting outside of school.
