Souderton Area High School - 41 N. School Lane, Souderton PA 18964, 215.723.2808

Students > Guidance > Guidance Services > Northern Montgomery County Technical Career Center

While attending half-day sessions at Souderton, students may enroll in the morning or afternoon Career Center program at NMCTCC, located adjacent to the North Penn High School. At the Career Center, students will pursue a curriculum designed to meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania department of Education. NMCTCC has adopted a career clustering approach to curriculum. This approach is based on the the concept that many clusters of occupations require common skills and knowledge. All new students attending the Career Center rotate through one of seven occupational clusters within the first semester of their first year. Near the conclusion of the cluster experience, the guidance counselor at the Career Center will meet with cluster coordinators to determine student career preferences. Student aptitude reports from the cluster teachers, cluster assignment grades, attendance and motivation will also be used to determine realistic student goals.

The seven cluster areas currently available are:

  1. Building Trades Technology
  2. Power and Transportation Technology
  3. Metal Trades Technology
  4. Engineering Technologies
  5. Visual Communications Technology
  6. Culinary Arts Technology
  7. Health and Human Services Technology

Some important notes:

  • All students selecting one of the Career center programs assume an obligation to complete their assigned three year program.
  • Students may not transfer from one Career Center program to another once the program has started.
  • Students who have to leave the Career Center program for reassignment to a full-time program at SACS will be responsible for making up all credits necessary for graduation.
  • Admission to the Career Center program is competitive and is not guaranteed.
  • Career Center credits will fulfill three elective credits per year towards graduation.
  • In accordance with policies of both the SAHS and the NMCTCC, failure to adhere to school rules and responsibilities may jeopardize a student's future status and involvement at NMCTCC.
