SAHS > SAHS Junior Wins Souderton-Telford Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest
Elizabeth “Libby” Wetzler, a junior at Souderton Area High School, was the local winner of the inaugural Souderton-Telford Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest. The Rotary awarded Libby $250 and will now compete at the Regional Rotary Competition in April.
The 4-Way Test was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor when he took charge of a company facing bankruptcy. The company’s subsequent survival was credited to the simple 4-Way Test philosophy, which was adopted by the Rotary in 1943. The 4-Way Test asks the following questions:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
The purpose of the 4-Way Test Speech Contest is to foster the principles of ethics in everyday life as well as in business.
