SAHS >November 2009 SAHS Students of the Month
Students from Souderton Area High School have been named as Students of the Month for November. Students are nominated by their teachers for showing exceptional characteristics such as responsibility, leadership, respect, honesty, and citizenship.
Freshman Elizabeth Wetzler, also known as Libby, already knows that after high school and college that she’d like to attend law school. She says history is her favorite subject saying, “It’s like a really long, interesting story.” Libby plays basketball with SAHS and AAU. She is the daughter of Frank and Betty Ann Wetzler of Harleysville.
Freshman Colt Armstrong has attended SASD since kindergarten and says his favorite subject is math, “Because I’m good at it.” He specifically likes algebra. Colt is active in winter track and lacrosse. He hopes to attend Penn State after high school. He and his mom, Donna, live in Harleysville.
Sophomore Meg Serravalle is fascinated by the past and what goes on around the world. It is not surprising, then, to learn that she loves history and Global Studies. She was a member of the stage crew for the high school fall play and hopes to make the school soccer team. She currently plays on the Harleysville Hurricanes travel soccer team. Meg resides with her parents, Mark and Sharon Serravalle, in Woxall.
Sophomore Jacob Ford is active in all things related to technology. He is a member of the SATV crew and on the tech crew for audio and lighting for SAHS theatre productions. He has a strong interest in the open source computer genre, an alternative to Microsoft. Jacob runs two small technology based businesses. He says Cisco, a course where students learn the skills needed to obtain entry-level home network installer jobs, is his favorite subject. Jacob plans to attend college after high school and will continue on his path as an entrepreneur. He lives with his parents, Mike and Val Ford, in Souderton.
Junior Alexa Taicher says her favorite subject is Global Studies because it is relevant and interesting. She is a member of student council and recently helped with the Santa and Me community event. After high school Alexa plans to attend college and study abroad. She is the daughter of Louis and Karen Taicher of Telford.
Junior Austen Kewin loves choir devotes a great portion of his time to music. He is a member of the marching band, jazz band, Advanced and Show Choirs, and was in the fall musical. He is also a member of the Link Crew, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, the morning bible study group, and his church youth group. Austen plans to attend a Christian college for either youth ministry, missions, or music. He is the son of Larry and Carla Kewin of Souderton.
Megan Katz, Class of 2010, plans to major in business management in college hoping to become a corporate event coordinator. Among her impressive list of leadership accomplishments, activities, and awards Megan is a member of the Principal Student Advisory Club, Commissioner for Link Crew, Officer for National Honor Society of Secondary Schools, and a member of the Souderton Varsity Tennis team. She also earned her Girl Scout Gold Award this past August. Megan lives with her parents, Jeff and Kathleen Katz in Harleysville.
Joseph Dille, Class of 2010, also known as Joey, is the managing editor of the SAHS award-winning newspaper, The Arrowhead. He also participates in the Robotics Club, Key Club, Link Crew, and National Honor Society. Joey’s favorite subject is AP Physics and wishes history and writing made as much sense. He plans to go to college after high school. Joey lives in Telford with his parents Joe and Pat Dille. |
