Photograph of StudentLaura Stanell was a First Place Winner in the Voice Senior Division of the Sixteenth Annual Asian American Music Society Piano, String, Woodwind, and Voice International Competition. This competition was held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Bethesda, MD. It is a unique competition for Elementary, Middle and High School Students. First place winners received a small scholarship and participated in the winner’s concert, which took place this year on Sunday, November 11th. Laura will also be performing at the AAMS concert on Millennium Stage, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, as well as the NSO Master Classes in January 2019.

Laura was named a Finalist and won Best Sophomore in the 2018 Schmidt Vocal Competition, sponsored by the William E. Schmidt Foundation and open to singers in their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. Laura participated in the New York competition held on November 4, 2018.
