MCCC Dual Enrollment Opportunities for 2020-2021

For the 2020-2021 year only, SAHS juniors and seniors are eligible to take an unlimited number of MCCC dual enrollment credits to count toward high school graduation requirements. Prior to registering for a college course, it is strongly advised to communicate the courses with your counselor to ensure they are the most appropriate courses in the necessary areas to meet graduation requirements. Also, prior to registering, it is important to review the style of course being offered. There are two types of online courses, those that may meet at a specific time (this could create an issue with scheduled courses through SAHS) or independent courses, where students complete work on their own to meet course deadlines.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Students will have two registration options to take a MCCC course.

  1. To be guaranteed a MCCC course, a student may register at any time through the registration process listed below. The cost is $191 per credit.
  2. Students also have the option of waiting to register for a course at a discounted rate. A list of courses and how to register for these discounted classes will be sent by MCCC in the upcoming weeks. They will be open to all students who attend a high school in Montgomery County. If you register for any of these courses, they are not guaranteed, but if admitted, the total cost will be $191 per course (regular price is $191 per credit, not course). A student may only take a maximum of 2 courses at the discounted rate.

How to register for a Dual Enrollment course through MCCC:
As of July 1, high school students looking to take MCCC classes will need to complete online registration forms; paper forms will no longer be used. All Dual Enrollment information can be found at mc3.edu/de.

To become a Dual Enrollment student, students must complete the following steps:

Classes at MCCC (online)

  1. Create an online account and submit your application to Montco. Once your account is created, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with your new student ID number.
  2. Once you've determined which Montco course you plan to take, gather an unofficial transcript (e-mail Robin Johnson (rjohnson@soudertonsd.org) or qualifying documents to qualify for course prerequisites listed under the course description. You will submit these documents during your registration in Step 3. A Montco team member will review your exemption status and contact you if any additional information is needed.
  3. Complete the online registration form*. You will need your Montco student ID number, which is located in your acceptance e-mail. As part of this process, you should inform your parent or guardian that they will receive a parental release form via e-mail which requires a signature authorizing permission for you to take the class(es). If your parent does not receive the e-mail, you can forward your confirmation e-mail to them.
  4. If you intend to receive high school credit for the college course(s) selected, it is your responsibility to coordinate with your high school guidance counselor to ensure that courses completed at MCCC fulfill high school requirements. You will indicate this communication happened on your registration form.

*The above registration form should only be used for high school students who are taking classes at the College – either on campus or online. For important registration dates and deadlines, please refer to the Registration Calendar.

If you or your student(s) have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Montco Admissions team at admissions@mc3.edu.
